In keeping with our conservation values, Sandhills includes Arbor Day in our list of company-wide holidays. All employees are expected to take the day off of work.
In addition to not working, employees are encouraged to celebrate Arbor Day by planting trees. To help make this possible, Sandhills will reimburse each employee up to $100 towards the purchase of trees to be planted.
Trees can be any variety and planted anywhere you have permission to plant, including your own property.
If you're unsure where to start when it comes to obtaining and planting trees, try researching local state forestry services or contact Pippin. He's happy to help guide you in the right direction.
Employees who intend to plant trees but live in climates with different tree planting seasons are permitted to observe this holiday at another time. Also, if inclement weather makes tree planting impossible on Arbor Day, observance can be shifted to another day. Please communicate requests to observe on a different day with your manager.
Employees who do not wish to or are unable to plant trees themselves can request that a donation to #TeamTrees be made from Sandhills on their behalf.
